Vaccinating your Baby on Time is Important for Disease Protection

There's no greater joy than helping your baby grow up healthy and happy. That's why most parents choose immunization. Giving your baby the recommended immunizations by age two is the best way to protect them from 14 serious diseases, like measles and whooping cough. PSE&G Critical Care Program Certification: Registry designed to help emergency responders locate and safely evacuate people who could find it difficult to help themselves in the event of a major disaster. To sign up for NJ's Register Ready Program call 2-1-1 or go online to www.registerready.nj.gov and fill out the application.

Animal Control: All dogs and cats must be licensed and vaccinated against rabies. Dogs must be on a leash. Pooper Scooper law is enforced, please be a good neighbor. Dog or animal bites must be immediately reported to the police by person bitten or by doctor.

Rabies Clinic - A free rabies vaccination clinic is held annually in February at the DPW garage.

Bergen County Animal Control - is located at 100 United Lane, Teterboro, NJ 07608. It shares this location with the Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. Animal Control can be reached 24/7, 365 directly at 201-229-4616 or through the Bergen County Public Safety Dispatch Center at 201-785-8505.

If your pet is missing or lost, you may contact Animal Control directly to inquire if they have a dog or cat matching the description of your pet. Bergen County Animal Control will scan stray dogs or cats for a microchip, identifying marks, collars, and tags to make every effort to notify the owner.


Vital Statistics: Marriage & Civil Union licenses (by appointment only), certified copies of births, deaths, marriages, civil unions and domestic partnership (proper ID and proof of relationship required).

MARRIAGE APPLICATIONS

  • Complete the Marriage Application - visit the Forms & Applications page here
  • Send completed form to jlepage@newmilfordboro.com with copies of your driver's licenses (at least one of you must have a New Milford address on your D.L.). Also submit your witness's I.D.
  • Application will be reviewed and the Registrar will call applicants to set time and date for an appointment to meet with all parties at Borough Hall for reading of the oath and signatures.
  • Payment of $28, check, money order or cash in exact amount accepted at the time of meeting.

  • A Marriage License will be issued and is valid for 30 days.

ATTENTION PET OWNERS: State law requires licensing of cats and dogs every January. Failure to obtain a pet license will result in a court summons and fine. If a pet remains unlicensed, late fees also will be assessed as of 3/1.

Rabies vaccinations must be valid through November of the licensing year. A free rabies vaccination clinic is held annually in February at the DPW garage. Only pets that are vaccinated will be licensed at the clinic. Otherwise, licensing must be done by mail, or in person at the health department office at the borough hall, at 930 River Road. While the Health Dept. and DPW employ some strategies to help control rodents, your participation is needed to keep them out of your neighborhood.
