Military Tribute Banners

NEW MILFORD NJ MILITARY TRIBUTE BANNERS

The Borough of New Milford will honor veterans and active service personnel with a Military Tribute Banner Program. The banners will be displayed on streetlamps along River Road, Main Street and Milford and Demarest avenues for three years:
from May through November in 2025, 2026 and 2027.
This project is coordinated by the New Milford Historic Preservation Commission and the Public Events Committee.

Who is eligible?
Honorees must be either U.S. military veterans (living or deceased) or active-duty personnel. Additionally, they must be either:
• A current or former New Milford resident, or
• An immediate family member of a current New Milford resident.

What is the cost per banner?
The cost is $175 per banner. The banners are 18 inches wide by 48 inches deep and are made of weather-resistant vinyl by Scott Graphics of New Milford.

When do banner sales start?
Sponsorship forms will be accepted from Nov. 12, 2024, through March 31, 2025. There are 60 display locations, and spaces will be reserved in the order that completed applications are received with payment.

Note: We anticipate high interest in this project and have set an initial limit of three banners per sponsor. We will advise sponsors if more spaces are available.

What are the requirements for photographs?
Photographs should be an official portrait or other appropriate high-resolution picture of the honoree in uniform or Veteran's cap. Group photos cannot be used. Photographs can be either print or digital, black & white or color. We suggest that you use a professional photo service to make prints or scan photos to ensure quality.

For print photos: Photos should be at least 5 x 7 with the full name of the honoree on the back. If submitting a physical photo, please do not send an original or only copy. Photos cannot be returned.

For digital photos: Picture files should be high resolution: 300 DPI for 4 x 6 or larger; smaller photos should be scanned at 600-1200 DPI or greater. Save files at "maximum print for PDF/JPEG." Photos from social media or websites are typically low-resolution and cannot be used.

HOW TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS, PHOTOS AND PAYMENT

Payment is by check only. We're sorry, but we cannot accept electronic payment at this time. Checks are payable to "Borough of New Milford." Include "Military Banners" and name of honoree in the memo line.
